Lion Hunt Game

When a lion is on the hunt it prefers zebra and wildebeest as they are slower and easier to catch than gazelles and small antelopes. They don't attack at random though, rather lying in wait while one lion goes behind the herd they are hunting then, as they flee towards the lying lion, they are trapped. Contrary to popular belief, it is usual for the lionesses to do the hunting but they allow the lion of the pride to eat first thus the expression "the lion's share". Although lions have no natural predators because of their strength and running speed of up to 50 mph they are still killed by human poachers whilst out on hunt as well as by elephants protecting their young and occasionally by the buffalo they are trying to hunt.
